Our educational foundation is based on nurturing human beings who sincerely make relentless efforts in academics and research and devote themselves to their formation and growth as human beings. The founding spirit when the university was first established in 1966—growing into trustworthy human beings—has been passed down till today, where we recently celebrated our 50th anniversary. Our university endeavors to nurture human resources who acquire “sophisticated expertise” and the “spirit to contribute to society” through practical learning. This is intended to complete commerce education and nurture human resources with a “sense of mission” and “responsibility” who can fulfill delegated responsibilities. We set our Diploma Policy (graduation certification and degree conferment policy), Curriculum Policy (curriculum formation and implementation policy) and Admission Policy (enrollment policy) อ่านบทย่อ

YNU Trains Youths to Act on a Global Stage, Contribute to Society and Be Practical. Yokohama National University is in its 137th year since its beginning – foundation of the Teacher Training Center – and is in its 62nd year since becoming a national university based in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture. During this period, while going through natural disasters and changing times, YNU has remained in the lead in churning out individuals equipped with practical knowledge and skills to be successful in society. In research, YNU has published numerous findings that are recognized globally, beyond the Japanese cultural and industrial boundaries. Many students have devoted themselves to study at YNU, their eyes set on the future, harboring lofty ambitions. The faculty and staff, too, have squarely stood up to society’s big expectations and trust understood the responsibilities of a National University and fulfilled those responsibilities. National Universities have traditionally upheld for themselves a mission of contributing to society, as institutions of higher learning, by creating new values that reflect the times. We take great pride that this mission has taken deep root at YNU as part of our school culture and ideal. Today, culture, science, and economy operate on a global scale while the environment is undergoing a sea change. In knowledge-based society of the 21st century, YNU will forge ahead with “transmitting knowledge” by producing practical individuals who can be successful on a global stage, and “furthering knowledge” through cutting-edge and global research projects, both of which carried out under the banner of being an “international focal point of practical scholarship.” As part of these efforts, two new academic organizations were added in 2011: the School of Engineering Science and the Graduate School of Urban Innovation. YNU’s commitment to the prosperity of humanity and society will continue, through bold, cooperative initiatives with local communities and expanded activities overseas. Yokohama National University upholds the four pillars of being Active, Innovative, Open and Global as fundamental university values and is committed to working harder and making further strides in research carrying out its vow to be a university that acts globally and contributes to society. อ่านบทย่อ
